The next item on the agenda is National Public Works Week Proclamation. This would Public Works Week is from May 19th to May 25th, 2024. And Supervisor Phillips reading the proclamation for us. Sure. Thank you, Madam Chair. This is a proclamation proclaiming National Public Works Week, May 19th through the 25th of 2024, titled Connecting the World Through Public Works.

Whereas Public Works professionals focus on infrastructure, facilities and services that are of vital importance to sustainable and resilient communities and to the public health, high quality of life and well-being of the people of Upper Merion Township. And. WHEREAS, the these infrastructure facilities and services could not be provided without the dedicated efforts of public works professionals who are engineers, managers and employees at all levels of government in the private sector, who are responsible for rebuilding, improving and protecting our nation's transportation, water supply, water treatment and solid waste systems, public buildings and other structures and facilities essential to our citizens.

WHEREAS, it is in the public interest for the citizens, civic leaders and children in Upper Merion Township to gain knowledge of and to maintain an ongoing interest and understanding of the importance of public works and public works programs in their respective communities. And. WHEREAS, the year 2024 marks the 64th annual National Public Works Week, sponsored by the American Public Works Association and Canadian Public Works Association.

Be it now resolved that teenagers will chairperson does hereby designate the week of May 19 through 25th of 2024 as National Public Works Week urges all citizens to join with the representatives of the American Public Works Association and Government agencies in activities, events and ceremonies designed to pay tribute to our public works professionals, engineers, managers and employees, and to recognize the substantial contributions that they make to protecting our national health, safety and quality of life.

And witness where of I here and to set my hand and cause the seal of the township to be done by the Board of Supervisors Business meeting on May 9th, 2024. And as a former public works employee and public works officer for the United States Navy, I appreciate the fact that we are honoring our public works professionals. A lot of the things that we do would not get done without folks running our transportation systems and running our infrastructure, our sewer plants, our water treatment plants and our electrical grids.

And I just wanted to do a shout out also to our public, our public works crew that these are these are the employees that are out there during our snowstorm, EMS clearing our roads sometimes in the middle of the night on a little sleep.

They're the ones that are setting up barricades for flood events that we have in the township on occasion. They patch up our roadways, they repair our sewers, they clean up downed trees. They keep our our parks and our ball fields in beautiful condition. And basically they do a lot of those jobs that most of us wouldn't even want to think about, handling so much appreciation to our public works team that they do a great job for us in the township here.
